Howdy friends and neighbors. Sit a spell and read this if you are sick of the bobble-head media and the “end of the world as we know it,” junk. I know exactly what the market is going to do: go up and down. There, we got that out of the way. Election? Well, you see, the one who gets the most electoral votes will win the presidency. Let’s see, what’s next? Here is a whole new concept for congress. NO! But, but, but, we have to fix…. NO! You just don’t understand mister taxpayer, we need 6 billion to……. NO! NO! NO!!!!!!! It’s a very easy word to say. Too bad us taxpayers don’t have that option on a W-2 /1040 schedule NO IRS easy form.
If you have read any of my past articles, you very well know that I am capitalist to the core. I’m all for the free market system and I believe Consumers will ultimately punish bad behavior of greedy companies. I heard a quote once and don’t know who to attribute it to but here it is, “Capitalism will not work without morals.” Amen. I agree fully with that statement. Saying that, I wish the so called media would just look down the block and find the small businessman who employs a few folks and pays them well, treats them more than fair, and exceeds their customer’s expectations and cares about their customer’s satisfaction. I truly believe these folks are everywhere in America. I know of hundreds of them just in Western Oklahoma. These people work their butts off to deliver a service or product that someone else demands. Then, they have to work what’s left of their rears off to keep up with the regulations, mandates, the mountains of taxes and the laws that go with them, from local, county, state and federal government. The ones that are really good at it still make a profit in spite of all the above and then when they splurge on a purchase they get the luxury tax. The ones I know are also generous givers. Most of the time they give and don’t want anyone knowing that they did. This is the backbone of our country. Not Wall Street.
I would like to share with you a conversation I heard on a talk radio show. No it wasn’t a right wing, bash the liberals show. It was the Dave Ramsey Show. He is a radio talk show host that helps people with personal finance problems. To set it up, he had one caller that was a single mom with a special needs kid, no income, no job because of the needs of her child, and she just turned her only car back to the “tote the note” lot she leased it from. It was tough. Dave’s advice (in a nutshell) was for her to ask her church for some help and work all she could while having a plan to better her situation.
Later he had an hour dedicated to callers that would like to defend socialism. Soon a caller came on and told how he had worked for twenty years for a small business guy and was making $50K. But the guy who owned the company made about $350K. The caller thought it would be just fine if his boss had to pay more taxes so the government could give it to folks like him. Dave simply told the caller he disagreed and asked the caller why didn’t he just start his own business and he to could make big bucks. The caller thought it would cut down on his fishing. But, the point I want to express is what Dave asked next. He asked the caller how many cars he had? “Three.” Then Dave told him that just earlier a single, struggling mom called who needed a car. Dave asked if this caller would be willing to give one of his cars to this woman. And of course the answer was, “No” because he worked hard for all his cars. Dave asked the caller if he thought his boss, who didn’t have time for fishing, worked hard for his money. And “yes” was the answer. The conclusion was, why was it okay to take something from one guy and give it to another, but it wasn’t okay for the caller to have his property taken away and given to someone less fortunate. No answer. BINGO! History shows socialism fails every time.
In America, I still have the freedom to be successful, happy, and worship God without fear of persecution. We can also give with freedom. Just ask a soldier.
I’m Monte Tucker, and that is what’s under my hat, sold to me by someone who wanted to make a buck. God bless ’em!
